Both PCLinkZ and your hotspot sponsor want you to enjoy easy, trouble-free internet access.  If you are still having problems after reading the information below, please contact us for help.

Email Help
Email is complicated because of spam.  Here is what works and does not work at the HotLinkZ locations.

  • Web-based mail works.  This includes AOL, Yahoo! Mail, GMail, Outlook/Exchange Web Interface, and web-interfaces to your regular email account (often webmail.yourprovider.com).

  • Client-based mail (Outlook, Outlook Express, Eudora, etc) can receive mail, but may have trouble sending mail.  Sending mail via SMTP on port 25 is blocked.  There are several ways around this.

    • Connect to your work network via VPN before using mail

    • Use an alternate port (other than 25) if your mail provider supports this.  Many providers support sending email over port 587.

Connection Help

We apologize if you had trouble connecting to the internet at one of our HotLinkZ locations.  Each location should have instructions on how to connect - the SSID of our hotspot is HotLinkZ and should be visible to your wireless configuration program.  If it is not, you are probably out-of-range.  There is no encryption or security, so you should be able to connect.

Once connected, you should see our signon page when you start your browser.  After agreeing to the terms, you will be directed to this page.  Internet Explorer or FireFox running on a PC and MAC have been tested and work.  Other browsers or types of computer may have problems.

After you agree to the terms of service, you should be able to access email and surf the internet for 24 hours before being prompted with the signon screen again.  If you are having trouble, please email or call us.

Please make backups!  We are not responsible for data loss under any circumstances!!
A hard disk can fail at any time and there is nothing we can do about it.  Please make backups before your appointment, before you bring your computer to us, or ask us to make backups before working on your computer.
